To Infinity and Beyond With Our Six Inch Pocket Size Superhero

Probably the only superhero small enough to fit into a little boy's pocket, for Halloween this year, your little boy could be rocketing around the local neighborhood in a Buzz Lightyear kids costume all of his own although I suspect a little bigger than the real one's costume.

Your little space hero can emulate the adventures of the superhero space ranger wearing his Buzz Lightyear kids costume on Halloween night, jetting from asteroid to asteroid, (house to house to you mom) and diverting them form a collision course with Earth, and ensuring Andy and all the other toys in the toy box are unharmed; thereby completing a grand mission for the Space Ranger Corp, and winning the undying thanks of the local neighborhood space locals.

I am not sure if Woody could survive the cold of outer space, therefore it is important that "Buzz" wraps up nice and warm in his protective Buzz Lightyear kids costume, protecting him from harmful gamma and X-rays in outer space, as well as the extreme cold that he will have to endure in the vacuum.

You may wonder what on Earth I am going on about mom, but if you have bought a Buzz Lightyear kids costume for your own little superhero Space Ranger for Halloween, it is just not possible to delve into a little boys' imagination to see where he goes. You can only guess at the adventures he will be taking when he is trick or treating around the local solar system, erm, sorry neighborhood.

The beauty of a Buzz Lightyear kids costume is that he can play in it with his buddies any time of the year, it doesn't have to be confined to Halloween, whereas a common or garden, every day demon outfit would. And anyway, little boys can relate very much to Buzz, with his chiseled jaw and over the top superhero Space Ranger mannerisms.

Buzz is a little "gung ho" but kids love this and he will use all of Buzz's mannerisms when he is flying to infinity and beyond (well, at least to ends of the neighborhood and back).

The most worrying thing for your little boy o Halloween is not how many treats he will get, or will the candy cube be big enough to hold those small asteroid sized candy bars, but will he meet up with the evil Emperor Zurg, and will they have to battle each other. Only your little boy's imagination will know the outcome of that one.

An Army Rangers Career: Expert's Perspective

I have interviewed an expert about Army Rangers to find out about the career. I must caveat my answers by saying; I am not and never will be an Army Ranger as women are not allowed to be Rangers. I learned about Rangers 28 years ago as a Reserve Officer's Training Corps (ROTC) Cadet going through my initial officer training

The Army Ranger's favorite time of day, I think like most Soldiers, Rangers look forward to meal time, or rest time after a mission. What I think is the Army Ranger's main piece of gear is His weapon. Rangers wear the US Army uniform appropriate for the environment in which they are operating. There survival skills as Rangers are trained to operate in all environments, temperate, desert, mountain and tropical. They know how to live off the land when necessary.

Well their training takes 9 weeks during which they must navigate, survive, and conduct clandestine combat missions in mountains, deserts, swamps, and temperate terrain. There really aren't different types of Army Rangers. All Rangers go through the same training. Rangers have different ranks based on normal military hierarchy. Being an Army Ranger is just like if you were a pilot. You have to go though all the training. A ranger is just a different part of the army. Some will climb up the ladder and one day run there unit while others get up the ladder faster and choose to just right out orders.

What other armed forces do Army Rangers fight with? Rangers will fight with any joint combat unit as required by the mission. That includes but is not limited to regular Army, Marines, Navy Seals, Special Operations teams and foreign nation Special Operations teams. When they get there missions just like anyone else they still have to carry out there orders. It dose not matter what other forces that they have to fight it is just the mission that they get.

Army Rangers do have somethings to help them know where they are. Rangers can navigate from terrain features and maps. Today they may use some variation of the global positioning system, but they can operate without GPS anywhere in the world. When they go into training they learn this and they even go out in the woods or where every there co tells them to go and they are given a map or directors on how to get back and they need to look out for some things that are put in the way to stop them from getting where they need to go.

A usual day for an Army Ranger is not what you think. Currently there is no typical day for a Ranger. The units at war have different challenges every day. The units in the States are training to be ready for their next tour in combat operations and the ones in combat are just trying to get though there missions with having anyone in there unit get killed or taken if there missions tends to go right or not. They are like everyone else that was sent to combat. All they want to do is come home to their love ones safe and sound.

The Self-Employed Can't Be Lone Rangers

Helping people throw off the yoke of employment,
the last legalized form of slavery, is the most
important way to usher people into the economic
world of the 21st Century.

Robert Kiyosaki, the "Rich Dad" of "Rich Dad,
Poor Dad" fame, advanced self-employment in a
recent article. We've added our thoughts to his.

Kiyosaki says:

1."Schools train students to be employees who look
for jobs rather than train entrepreneurs who create
jobs and businesses."

Alquist adds:

America's current public school educational
model predates even the demised Industrial
Revolution, going back into agrarian society,
giving students ample time off to help parents
with the family farm at harvest time.

Since only 1 to 2% of Americans are involved in
agriculture, a summer vacation for students to
help at the harvest isn't needed.

Although information doubles or triples ever three
years, we still have a 180 day school year. Students,
then, are in the classroom every other day.

Educational "improvements" often take the form of
coneheaded social engineering and rabid political
posturing---often racist manipulation of groups
against each other--rather than more effective
learning.

Don't agree? Then please explain why Floridians
have an average level of educational attainment at
the third grade level, according to the Florida State
Chamber of Commerce.

Most other states rejoice to attain an unimpressive
7th or 8th grade average level of educational
attainment.

It's even worse than Robert Kiyosaki says. Not only
don't schools train entrepreneurs, they fail to train
competent employees as well.

2. Kiyosaki says: "The skills to be a good employee
are not the same as skills needed to be a good
entrepreneur."

Alquist adds: That's true and needs little elaboration.
If you want to learn how to be an entrepreneur, you
need to read and study the writings of successful
entrepreneurs.

You will not find these books in many libraries or
most schools or even many college book stores.

You'll find them at major books stores and on the
Internet as well.

Kiyosaki says:

3. Entrepreneurs sometimes "fail to build a business.
They work hard as self-employed persons, building
jobs they own. They're self-employed but do not really
own a business."

Alquist adds:

This is manifestation of the "Long Ranger" complex.
You think the business is you and all about you.
This can be avoided by selectively using professional
resources to cover areas where your skills are weak.

Remember, even the Lone Ranger had Tonto---and
both had horses--a team of four. The "Lone Ranger"
really wasn't alone.

Getting involved in direct selling, including network
market/MLM, can solve this problem, if you recruit
and train business-minded distributors with strong
ambition and a global vision.

Technology, properly used, can help shoulder the
load of running a business---selling things via
e-commerce, for example.

If you think MLM is a pyramid scheme, think again.
MLM is legal and the most equitable business model
in existence.

The only existing legal pyramid scheme is an American corporation, where the person at the top of the
organizational pyramid earns big money and all the
employees are at the base of the pyramid and
earn substantially less.

Kiyosaki says:

4. "Many entrepreneurs have a great product or
service, but don't have the business skills to build a
successful business around that product or service."

Alquist adds: Building a business around that product
or service is achieved by realizing that your business
is not only not about you, it's not about your product
or service, either.

However, you must promote yourself to show prospects
that you are the best and that they should be doing
business with you.

Business building starts when you realize that
it's all about the customer, learning his/her needs,
real or perceived, and providing solutions in the form
of your products or services--at a profit, of course.

Unless you develop and follow a Business Plan, you
will be working a job you own rather than a business
you own.

In addition to product training, policy and procedures
training, and sales training, you need extensive
business training--general, yet substantial, so you
will learn how to build and operate any kind of
business.

This must include finance and accounting (two
different things), business plan creation, and
consumer and business marketing (including its
related disciplines: advertising, sales promotion,
public relations and direct response).

How to Handle a FSBO Real Estate Contract

When selling a home For Sale By Owner there is a major topic that should be considered carefully. The topic centers around the sales contract or what the real estate industry calls the Offer To Purchase. Many homeowners who choose to sell a home on their own as a For Sale By Owner seller are often concerned how to handle the sales contract.

Well there is no need to get overly concerned regardless of what any real estate professional may want a FSBO seller to believe. FSBO sellers will often find real estate professionals trying to win their potential business with what I call "Fear Tactics". The fact is all you really need as a seller in regards to a sales contract is a qualified real estate attorney. A Fsbo real estate contract can be obtained from almost any local real estate attorney. The truth is that any seller regardless of whether they sell by owner or with a real estate professional, will need someone to prepare the property deed for transfer. The deed preparation comes with a fee of around $100 - $200 depending on the company or person preparing the document.

Here is what I would suggest for a Fsbo seller in regards to a Fsbo real estate contract:

Step One: Find a local real estate attorney in your area that provides deed preparation for sellers

Step Two: Ask the attorney what their fee is for seller deed preparation.

Step Three: Ask whether or not they can provide you with an offer to purchase sales contract for your state that is approved by the state Bar Association.

Step Four: Also ask the attorney if they can provide contract review / consultation for a completed offer to purchase before you as a seller sign the offer. Please note that step 3 & 4 may have fees involved.

Now that you have asked the attorney these questions and provided you get the answers you need. You are basically set and ready to handle the contract details of any Fsbo real estate contract offer to purchase. One very important thing to remember is a licensed real estate broker or professional is not qualified to answer questions pertaining to legal documents. The last time I checked a real estate offer to purchase is considered a legal document and questions about such documents need to be answered by qualified legal professionals. So it is my opinion that all sellers regardless of how they choose to sell their home need some form of legal advice.

Do not let the fear of contracts force you in to paying 10k, 20k, or more for real estate commissions. When you can get qualified legal advice for much less and more easily more qualfied. It is entirely possible to get the advice mentioned above for $200, $300, or maybe $400 and that is well worth the savings.

Consultative Sales Professionals Need To Fulfil Three Basic Roles

As we are all aware, getting to know the customer and understanding their needs is not a quick and easy process. Customers possess a hierarchy of needs which have to be uncovered gradually. This is why we need a new type of salesperson for a new type of customer.

So what does this new breed of salesperson look like? For a start he or she has progressed from the more traditional, 'lone ranger' approach of selling to a more team-based consultative style. Our research shows that a consultative salesperson needs to fulfil three basic roles, that of Business Consultant, Long Term Ally and Strategic Orchestrator.

By combining all three roles salespeople are more able to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients. At the same time, organisations need to ensure that they provide their salespeople with the vital support systems and training that enable them to make the most of their knowledge and skills

Business Consultant:

Gone are the days in which a salesperson could simply walk into an office, establish a good rapport with the client, show he/she had thorough knowledge of their products and services and clinch the sale. Nowadays, the emphasis is on establishing long-term, mutually beneficial relationships and in order to achieve this, the salesperson needs to earn the right to continue discussions with his/her client. Before they can proceed to sell their products or services, the salesperson needs to reassure the client of their integrity, reliability and ability to understand and recommend the appropriate solution. They can do this by demonstrating;

o Up-to-date knowledge of business news and current affairs
Best practices include - reading newspapers, magazines, journals, trade publications and other sources of business information; maintaining membership of appropriate professional organisations; acknowledging gaps in knowledge and taking steps to fill them; locating or developing databases with information on customers, their industries and their own customers.

o An in-depth understanding of the customer's industry, company and strategies as well as an appreciation of "the big picture".
Best practices include - gaining an understanding of the issues at all levels of the customer's organisation including strategic, departmental and individual needs; seeking to understand the customer's perceptions of market trends, company direction, plus potential product and service needs.

o A readiness to exchange information and ideas between the supplier and client organisation.
Best practices include - familiarising the customer with your own industry and companies; sharing useful business information even if it does not directly impact on the sales effort; demonstrating the cost-cutting or revenue producing benefits of your products and services.

o The ability to listen and absorb information.
Best practices include - refining the way you identify customer's needs by asking the right questions and listening actively to customer comments; speaking at the listener's level of knowledge; using stories and analogies effectively; asking for feedback on the clarity of your message. By demonstrating comprehensive knowledge, outstanding communication skills and the proper attitude, the salesperson earns the right to move beyond the role of supplier to that of a valued business consultant

Strategic Orchestrator:

To fulfil this role, the salesperson needs to be seen as the key person responsible for engineering the appropriate solution. This involves co-ordinating all of the information, resources and activities needed to support customers before, during and after the sale. It means enlisting support from specialist colleagues and hence the move away from the "lone ranger" approach.

According to our research, effective Strategic Orchestrators have mastered the following competencies:

o Knowledge of their own company's structure

o Expertise in developing and managing a team

o Ability to manage priorities and performance

o Ability to co-ordinate delivery and service to customers

o Efficiency

o Flexibility

Customers of Strategic Orchestrators express a high level of confidence in the salesperson and his or her organisation:

This increased confidence can lead to faster buying decisions, increased repeat business and strengthened links between customer and supplier organisations. Working as Strategic Orchestrators, salespeople are also able to develop their organisation's capacity for team selling.

Long Term Ally:

Since the key to differentiation is in forging closer links with clients, the role of Long Term Ally is a crucial one. Once the salesperson has earned the right, it is important to develop and maintain the relationship.

As the term suggests, acting as a Long Term Ally, involves maintaining contact with the client even when there is no immediate prospect for a sale. It also suggests that the salesperson needs to be committed to the long-term development of the relationship. Our research shows that top salespeople demonstrate this commitment by continuously looking for ways to:

o Build interpersonal trust

o Create and maintain a positive image of the sales organisation

o Inspire respect for their company

o Show genuine concern for their customers' short and long-term interest

o Identify ways to strengthen the quality of their business relationship

o Help the customer meet needs within his or her organisation

o Deal with issues openly and honestly

o Deliver on promises

It is also crucial for the salesperson to ensure that the relationship between the organisations is mutually beneficial. In other words, it is essential to build and honour the expectation that reaching agreements will mean good business for both parties.

At the end of the day, taking a long-term approach proves more profitable since the customer will recognise that the salesperson is taking a committed interest and in so doing is giving honest and open advice. This inevitably encourages the customer to trust the salesperson and to view him or her as a colleague rather than an opponent

In Summary: Long Term Allies and Mutually Beneficial Agreements.

Supplier Organisations Must Be Willing To

o Elicit feedback from customers regarding overall satisfaction with the products / services delivered.

o Maintain regular contact with current and prospective customers

o Alert customers to new developments in own organisation

o Review the business relationship underlying each account on a regular basis

Buyer Organisation Must Be Willing To

o Keep suppliers "in the loop" regarding the company's strategic direction and needs

o Value the record of service provided by supplier organisations above lower cost competitors

o Grant access and information about their customers to the supplier organisations

Gambling Odds

Millions of people enjoy betting on sporting events and this involves keeping track of the gambling odds for each event. The gambling odds will give some idea about which team or individual is favored in a sporting event, but they are primarily designed to let you know how much you can win or lose on a specific bet. In order to place bets that have a good chance of being successful you need to look behind the odds and find out more about how they were arrived at.

For example, the gambling odds on a baseball game will tell you which team is favored to win in a game involving the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees. However, there can be many factors involved in determining why one team is favored over the other. For example, say that the Yankees are a heavy favorite to win the first game of a three game series. This may be due to the pitching match up if in fact the Yankee hitters have had great success in the past against the Rangers starting pitcher.

On the other hand an injury to a key Rangers player may have helped determine the gambling odds. If the player is the best clutch hitter for the Texas team then that can certainly impact the outcome of a game. Even the place where the game is being played and the weather conditions can help determine gambling odds. If the game is being played in the Rangers home stadium it is known to favor power hitters like many in the Yankee line up and if it is expected to rain before the game, the outfield will probably be slippery. So take a look at the odds, learn all you can and place your bets.

Buying an Early Ford Bronco - Model History

The early Ford Bronco enjoys a status today among 4x4 fans and classic car devotees that borders on becoming a cult. With a simple design and solid build, excellent handling both on and off road and raw V8 power you have a vehicle that lends itself to many modifications. The early models are now more than 40 years old, the esteem of the classic 1966-1977 Ford Bronco will no doubt continue to grow over the coming years. If you are considering buying an early Ford Bronco then the information here should help you choose the model year that is right for you.

When buying an early Ford Bronco as with the purchase of any older or classic vehicle the usual advice applies to buy the best you can afford with your budget and remember to include ongoing running costs for maintaining an ageing, if modern classic.

Introduced to the motoring public in August 1965 the Ford Bronco was to compete against the Jeep CJ-5 and International Harvester Scout. Initially the early Broncos were very basic; options including power steering and auto transmission were absent. The engine department offered a 105 BHP, 170ci six cylinder - a variant from the Ford Falcon range. Transmission was the three speed manual with a column mounted shifter. Exclusive to the initial models was a tall shifter with a J-handle style ball mounted atop.

The Ford Bronco range was available in wagon, roadster and half cab variations however the roadster proved unpopular and ceased production in 1968. Brakes were drums all round, rear axle was a Ford 9" (up to 1971) and a Dana 30 front axle. The gas tank held 14.5 gallons as standard with a second tank as an optional extra holding an additional 11.5 gallons. The 1966 year model had the following optional extras to choose from: winches, tachometer, tow hooks, trailer hitch, snow plow kit, warn freewheeling hubs and air lift front auxiliary springs. Production for the 1966 model year came to 23,700 units.

1967

1967 saw the Sports Package launched including headlamp and tail lamp bezels, bright finished horn ring, windshield drip, side window frames, cigar lighter, chrome-plated bumpers, front guards and grille (with red "Ford" letters attached to the grille) and 15" wheels trims. In addition to this a bright trimmed headliner and vinyl floor matt were included along with instrument panel trim and tailgate handle. Also new were a dual master cylinder with a split hydraulic system and self adjusting brakes with back up lights and an 11.5 gallon spare fuel tank. 14200 models were produced in 1967.

1968

New in 1968 were front locking hubs and new design inside door handles and window crank knobs along with curved ends on the bumpers and side marker reflectors. 1968 was the last year for the 289ci V8. 16600 models were produced in 1968.

1969

First off the 302ci V8 replaced the 289ci V8, two speed electric wipers were introduced, parking lights with an amber lense replaced the white lense and the steering stabilizer was to become standard. Aluminum door panel trim and a pleated parchment interior were added to the Sport Package and when the rear seat was ordered this came with a rear floor mat. Production levels rose to just under 21,000 models.

1970

The Sports package became a model in its own right instead of a package. The most obvious modifications were the new position of the side marker lights and reflectors. This year saw a reduction in the capacity of the main and spare gas tanks from 12.7 gallons and 10.3 gallons. 1970 saw 18450 Broncos built.

1971

Changes included the Dana 44 becoming the standard Bronco front axle, remote control left hand outside mirror, new headliner for the pick-up and a heavy duty radiator. 1971 saw the limited edition Baja Bronco by Bill Stroppe and Associates introduced - they took a Bronco wagon and made the following modifications: roll bar, front and rear dual shocks, fender flares, larger Gates Commando tires, rubberized steering wheel, bumper braces, automatic transmission, power steering, nameplate and special paint order (red, white, blue, black and white). In total around 650 Baja Broncos were made between 1971 and 1975. Just over 19700 Broncos were made in 1971.

1972

Mid Year changes saw the ranger Package introduced with new striping, argent grille, color coded front and rear pile carpets, deluxe wheel covers, tire cover with "Ranger" lettering, cloth insert bucket seats, fiberboard headliner and wood grained door trim panels. The gas tank reduced in size once again to 7.5 gallons. The T-handle shifter was removed as was the "302" badge V8 front fenders. Production rose to 21,100 units.

1973

This year saw the introduction of the C-4 auto transmission and power steering as an option, the J-Handle transfer case shifter was also introduced. These efforts to modernize the Bronco against stiff competition helped the sales for 1973 achieve just fewer than 21,900 units.

1974

The numbers of Broncos that rolled off the production line hit 25,800 and in this year a new emissions package was introduced for the Californian Broncos making the 200 cid six cylinder engine and 4.11 axles obsolete. Changes were made to the J-handle shifter mechanics and the transmission selector was now lit.

1975

Stricter emissions regulations saw the introduction of unleaded fuel engines, catalytic converters and it is rumored that cam timings were restricted in 1975 to assist with emissions. Sport and Ranger models were fitted with the F-Series steering wheel, ride heights adjusted and an 800 watt engine block heater was available as an option. Lowest ever production numbers were seen of 13,125.

1976

A Special Decor Group had a matt-black finish grille, tape stripe, side window frames, bright windshield molding and wheel covers. Mechanically long awaited power assisted front disc brakes were fitted, rear brakes were also upgraded, Y steering linkage introduced and a front anti sway bar. Production numbers rose slowly to just over 15,200.

1977

The last year for the early Bronco saw the introduction of a heavy duty 9" rear end housing, gas tank doors replaced exterior caps, rear marker lights were now mounted vertically and a 14.4 gallon and 8 gallon gas tank were made in plastic. This is possibly the best of the early models as it includes most of the previous year features. Some previously standard items, such as a passenger's side seat and padded instrument panel, were made optional this year. In its final year of production, 14,546 Broncos rolled off the assembly line before the large Bronco took over in 1978.

Order Power Rangers Costume For Halloween

Remember growing up and watching the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers? Millions of kids around the world used to get up early on a Saturday morning just to watch the latest episode. The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers aired on Fox for only three seasons from 1993 to 1996. However, that was enough to start a franchise. The franchise has continued well into 2009. It now consists of 17 seasons and 15 different series with two films and the Power Rangers costumes continue to be one of the hottest Halloween costumes.

The latest film was just released in March 2009. The series was originally produced by Saban Entertainment and later by BVS Entertainment. BVS was a division under Disney. The original concept was adapted from the Japanese Tokusatau Super Sentai series. Almost all episodes will include carry over from the Japanese source material. Some will even have Sentai designs and edited footage.

A true power ranger is a fictional character that morphs into a powerful superhero. The superhero will generally wear a color-coated Power Rangers costume with a helmet that has an opaque visor. Each ranger will be assigned a suit and energy spectrum that matches a specific color. When the characters are morphed into rangers they generally possess super human strength, durability and the ability to fight in hand to hand combat.

When Disney started creating the series, the characters were able to maintain some of the superhero powers when they are in their natural state; such powers as, super human speed or invisibility. Rangers regularly operate in teams of five with an occasional, sixth team member joining the group somewhere in the middle of the series.

Each team of power ranges must obey a set of rules, or guidelines. A power ranger must not use their powers for personal gain. They may not use their powers for escalating a fight. They must never disclose their true identity to the general public, except for in extenuating circumstances. The plenty for disobeying any of these rules would be the loss of their power.

Along with their powers and following the guidelines, power rangers usually carry a standardized arsenal. Their arsenal usually includes either a laser gun or a sword. They will usually have access to a secondary set of weapons that combined into a larger weapon; like a cannon. Usually the arsenal, especially the zords, ends up getting destroyed at the end of the season. This usually has to happen in order to destroy the large and final monster.

Comic Books - The Green Hornet History

In this article we're going to briefly discuss one of the darkest heroes in comic book history, The Green Hornet.

The Green Hornet actually hit the scene as a radio program before it ever saw the light of day as a comic book. The radio show debuted in 1936. This was two years before Superman hit the scene in comic books and three years before the creation of Batman. Yes, The Green Hornet did come before both of them though most people don't realize that.

The character of The Green Hornet was created by George W. Trendle, who stated in his creation that John Reid, who was the Lone Ranger, was the great-uncle of Britt Reid, the Green Hornet. Something else very few people know. The Green Hornet was one of the forerunners of the super hero genre. And since Trendle linked The Green Hornet to The Lone Ranger, it could be said that The Lone Ranger was also a forerunner.

Like many crime-fighters that came after him, The Green Hornet wore a mask, as did The Lone Ranger. The Green Hornet's true identity of Britt Reid, was an editor of a newspaper, the Daily Sentinel. This way he could keep an eye on what was going on in the world around him, much like Clark Kent did as Superman when he took a job working as a reporter at the Daily Planet. There were actually many parallels between Reid and Kent even though Reid was human and Kent was from the planet Krypton. Unlike The Lone Ranger though who got rid of his true identity and just went by The Lone Ranger, Britt Reid kept both of his identities. Newspaper publisher by day and crime-fighter by night.

The Green Hornet did not fight crime on his own, however. He had his trusty sidekick Kato, who was Reid's Oriental houseboy. Kato was a master at martial arts long before Kung Fu movies were even thought of. Kato was really the muscle of the team while Reid was more of the brains, though he could put up a pretty big fight when and if he had to.

Unlike many of the super heroes that came after him, The Green Hornet was a plainly dressed man. He wore a hat popular during the times and a coat. The only thing he wore that would even be remotely considered odd was his mask. But as crime fighters went, he was a dull one to look at. Kato too wore a mask and was dressed like a chauffeur. The two certainly didn't win any awards for original fashion.

The Green Hornet's car was the Black Beauty. This vehicle was created long before Batman's Batmobile and had every gadget inside that you could think of, from rocket blasters to laser beams. The Green Hornet also had a Hornet Gun which could blow the locks clean off of doors.

The one thing fairly unique about the Hornet, especially for the times, was that he was looked at as a bad guy. This made his job that much harder with the police also on his tail.

The comic eventually made its way to a hit TV series starring Van Williams and the ever popular Bruce Lee.

Collecting Western Belt Buckles

As the popularity of Western style grows, so does the fashion and accessories of that style. Western Belt Buckles are currently going through a fashion revival. Today Western Belt Buckles are worn proudly by our president, the governor of California as well as celebrities and movie stars and millions of others who want to add a distinctive touch to their wardrobes. Antique style Western Belt buckles are becoming harder to find and more expensive every day.

It is believed the vaquero, or Mexican cowboy, first introduced fine silver spurs, tack and buckles to the cowboys of the untamed American West, and perhaps to the Texas Rangers. It might have been their desire to wear fine Mexican silver buckles with a wider belt that led to the development of the popular ranger belt and buckle.

The Cowboy belt buckle did not originate until the turn of the 20th Century. Although the idea of collecting antique belt buckles of the famous cowboys who rode the ranges of the Wild West is great, the reality is that the cowboys usually wore suspenders or buckles that were derived from military friction buckles. It was Hollywood and the Western Movies that gave popularity to what is known today as the Western Belt Buckle.

Belt buckles range from extremely large Texas stateseals, oil derricks, and Jack Daniels emblems to simple, elegant silver buckles, tips, and keepers. Belt buckles worn during the 1900's and those worn during the Art Nouveau period have become highly collectible items.

There are famous manufacturers of belt buckles from the first half of the century. Those include: Don Ellis, Michael Srour, Al Pecetti, William Nelson, John McCabe, Les Garica, Edward H. Bohlin and Robert Schaezlein. Those pioneers of the industry are the ones that are most prized for collections.

There are many types of belt buckles you can collect. Besides the more valuable antique belt buckles, there are many companies, such as Hesston, who put out a new dated belt buckle every year. Some rodeos have started making limited edition buckles every year. One such is the Wild Bill Hickok rodeo in Abilene, Kansas, who sells a limited edition of a new western design every year.

Silver belt buckles are very popular and buckles depicting eagles, patriotic flags, the Confederate Flag, and the cowboy riding the bronco to name a few, are popular buckles.

The Western Belt Buckle is both rustic and stylish and a good bet for any collector.

Archery Range - Setting Up Your Own

If you are a serious archer, whether your aim is private hunting or competition, there is a good chance that at one point or another you are going to want to set up your own archery range. While this is a fairly straight forward endeavor, you will find that in order to practice good safety and to make sure that the chances of someone getting hurt are absolutely minimal, you will find that it is important to keep a few things in mind.

1. Choose to shoot from north to south alignment.
Remember that setting up like this will prevent the sun from getting into the archers' eyes; this would obviously be reversed if you were in the Southern Hemisphere.

2. Maintain a clear line of sight between the edges of the range.
As with just about everything in archery, visibility is the key. No matter where you are shooting from, you should be able to see the entirety of the shooting area. The smallest ranges will measure around twenty five yards, but you will find that the more space you have, the better. This will let you move targets back as you improve.

3. Figure out how to catch arrows.
When you miss the target (don't deny it, it happens!) make sure that you have a way that you can catch the arrows before they hurt someone else or land in someone else's property. If you have all of the space that you want, you may find that a simple open field behind the targets will work, but if you don't, a wall of straw bales or a wooden fence of some sort might be your best idea.

4. Mark the firing line.
It seems that you will always know where you should stand when you are going to be doing some practice, but don't count on it. Find a way to accurately mark your firing line, whether it is with some rope or a painted line on the grass. You will find that this will help you maintain a realistic idea of what your distance and accuracy are, and if you have anyone coming in to shoot with you, it can be an extremely important safety precaution.

5. Mark the perimeter.
It doesn't matter how isolated or solitary that your shooting range is, make sure that you mark the perimeter so that it can be seen from a distance. For temporary practice areas, you will find that a brightly colored rope hung between knee and waist height will do, though if you are looking for a more permanent structure, think about some light fencing. When you are going to be having other people regularly, take the time to make sure that there is only one entrance to your range.

6. Mark your targets.
Make sure that if you are shooting at more than one distance that you mark out what distance the targets are resting at. It can help when it comes to scoring if you are shooting against a friend and it will save on confusion later on.

7. Practice good safety and make sure that others do also.
Even when you know that no one else is around, be cautious. Always check before you fire onto a range and make sure that anyone else who is shooting is doing so as well. Stay behind the firing line and make sure that you keep an eye on anything moving.

Having read the information in this section, you should have a good idea on how to set up your own archery range along with some excellent safety tips, please note it is important to keep these few things in mind. With just a little more research, you should be ready to get that archery range happening right on target.

Park Ranger and the Many Hats of the Park Ranger in the Criminal Justice Field

Park rangers are nature lovers by nature. They enjoy being and working outside. Perhaps it is the fresh air that they enjoy so much. Or, it is the wide open space. It could also be the interaction with the park visitors or all of the above.

Whatever it is that drives someone to the park ranger profession, one thing is for sure, they must also enjoy wearing many hats. This is because park rangers get involved in so many things in the course of doing their job. In this article, I will discuss the many hats a park ranger could wear in discharging his or her duties.

In no particular order of importance, they are:

1. The park ranger could be called to wear the hat of a law enforcement officer. This will mean ticketing or arresting a park visitor.

You see, just as in anywhere else in life, the law can be broken in the park. For example, a park visitor can indulge in too much alcohol consumption in the cause of enjoying what the park has to offer. And we know what too much alcohol consumption can lead to. This person can become unruly or abusive to other park visitors.

In this case, it is the job of the park ranger to arrest or evict the person from the park. The failure of the park ranger to do this, could lead to dangerous situations. One of them could be somebody getting killed or seriously injured.

2. The park ranger could be called upon to control forest fire. Forest fire can be devastating. Families have lost their homes and valuables because of forest fire. Add to this the loss of wildlife. Then, you begin to understand why it is important to control forest fire.

Park rangers are one of the government agencies entrusted with controlling forest fire. They must watch park visitors to make sure they don't start fires that can rage out of hand. Something as simple as throwing a cigarette butt out can start a forest fire. While ordinary park visitors may not know this, park rangers know this too well. So they must educate and watch park visitors to keep this from happening.

3. The park ranger could be called to wear the hat of a search and rescue person. It is quite easy for park visitors to wander too far from other people. This is especially so for children. They can easily stray too far from their family and not be able to find their way back. In this case, the park ranger must help locate them before something harmful happens to them.

Another thing that also easily gets lost in the park is animals. Dogs and cats are perfect examples. One minute they could be with their owners, the next minute they could run too far into the woods. Here again, the ranger must come to the rescue.

The park ranger does indeed wear many hats. I have only scratched the surface. If you are interested in the park ranger career, I encourage you to do more research on what you will be doing on the job. This way, you will have no surprises after you get into the profession. You can do so by visiting websites which cover the park ranger career in more detail.
